We liked the open concept kitchen, spent quite a lot of efforts and time to design the kitchen layout. We hacked the original walls and storeroom to create this open concept kitchen, it was a huge change. We asked the carpenter to build a counter-bar ~ it will be the place to hang out with friends. The lightings were ordered online ~ quite like the effect.

The kitchen cabinet top was made from kompactop – quite different from normal solid surface and we liked the wooden texture. We did quite heavy cook especially during my confinement period and the kompactop still maintained well.

We also put a chalkboard wallpaper beside the counter-bar.

Hi, I love your kitchen colours and am looking for such colour combination, would you mind providing me what are the “woody” colours that you have chosen for your kitchen and also which ID or contractor that you are using?

      Thanks Wendy,
Woody colours? You meant the wall tiles or floor tiles? Or the kitchen top?
My contractor is not good, so I not recommend him .. you can refer to my post about the reviews of contractor we used.

hi there, i love the sink you are using. can you share your experience on using it and where can i get it. and also, did your contractor order the kompactop and did the cabinets for you?

      October 18, 2013 at 4:18 pm

The sink brand is Carysil Deluxe 2B Granite Sink – Nera, bought from Universal Union for sgd299.
So far no issue on using the sink especially I cooked everyday, so do a lot of dish washing.

The kompactop and cabinets were not done by my contractor, they were done by my carpenter ah thong.

Hi, I’m working during if you have issues with the smell and oil wafting through the whole house when cooking since you have an open concept kitchen?

    1. wongcee@hotmail.com

      July 5, 2015 at 2:12 pm

We on kitchen hood and close all the room doors while cooking. The smell will be gone after cooking is done, so far so good … We have no regret with open kitchen though we cook almost everyday.

Hi, Love your kitchen. btw I am curious, where do you hide your appliances that you use everyday?
And if you have an open concept kitchen how to avoid your children to always come to the kitchen when you are cooking.
    Thank you.

    1. wongcee@hotmail.com

      February 25, 2016 at 4:29 pm

Thanks ~ I just put the appliances inside the drawers … As you see, the drawer is quite big.
But most of the days, the appliances are outside unless there is some special event.

For the kids, I have to educate them and so far they understand or just put them in baby chair when they are still young.

    1. wongcee@hotmail.com

      April 23, 2016 at 7:01 am

Have been staying for more than 3 years and so far no issues on kompactop and we cooked 5 days in a week. Yes, we are using ceramic tiles for both kitchen floor and wall.
