When returned back to Agriturismo Poderuccio, we stopped by at one of the vineyard near to where we stayed .. we wanted to take some photos at the vineyard ~ there were so many grapes on the trees.
After took our stuffs and rest a while, we continue to drive to Siena. It took less than 2 hours from Agriturismo Poderuccio drive to Siena town.
Finally, we reached Siena. First thing to do – of course was to fill up our stomach with foods. When we arrived in Siena, it already around 2pm and most of the restaurants were already closed. We saw this restaurant still opened and the last order was 230pm, we quickly ask the waiter for ordering the food. The name of the restaurant was called Ristorante il Duomo Siena.
I cannot remember what is the dish that I ordered, but I know there are a lot of cheese inside the bowl while Kenji ordered the rabbit meat.
The food was ok ~ a bit filling for us but I didn’t really enjoy this dessert .. the wine provided was too strong for me.
After the lunch, we walked to the Cathedral of Siena – saw there were peoples queuing to enter the church. From wiki : this church dedicated from its earliest days as a Roman Catholic Marian church and now to Santa Maria Assunta (Most Holy Mary of Assumption), is a medieval church in Siena, central Italy. The cathedral itself was originally designed and completed between 1215 and 1263 on the site of an earlier structure. It has the form of a Latin cross with a slightly projecting transept, a dome and a bell tower.
We saw there were many peoples at the Campanile Siena, which was able to have the best view down to Piazza del Campo. We also joined the que – understand that there was a limit of peoples to enter to the Campanile, we took around 1 hour to get into the Campanile.
See? This was the view down to Piazza del Campo – too bad that I didn’t bring my sony camera to take the panoramio photo.
The entrance ticket also cover the entrance to the Cathedral of Siena. It was not allowed to take photos with flash inside the cathedral but we still see peoples using flash.
