Disclosure: This is a sponsored post by IKEA but all opinions are my own.

I am a bit surprised when I get the email from IKEA, asking me to work on another collaboration project, but why not? It has been more than two years since I updated the progress of our kitchen renovation after we moved in, and here it goes, IKEA project #5, kitchen upgrade 2015.

Well, we have added some new pieces for the counter-bar. I tried to add some decoration pieces such as flowers and plants to make the milk powder container looked nicer. My final goal of this counter-bar is to make it same height with the kitchen counter-top which will look like a kitchen island.

With helper around, we cooked almost everyday. Our daily breakfast are breads with eggs and our eggs run out very fast. Those eggs looked happier to sit on the 2-tiers serving stand from IKEA, aren’t them? Sometimes I also put my cupcakes on the serving stand to serve our guests, of course I would wash it first before putting the cupcakes. Onions and garlics are put inside the jar without lid, the jar size just nice for them. A new RIMFORSA knide holder which is made by bamboo materials helps to line up Daddy’s knifes properly. The rest still look pretty much the same except we have got a new set of cups.

Here’s how it looks all together.

Almost all of our eating cutlery are bought from IKEA and … I liked the orange and green place mats, I thought they matched each other.

Daddy Kenji planned to plant some flowers in these RIMFORSA containers which looked like test tubes. I liked the color tone and design of IKEA new RIMFORSA series, they display kitchen stuffs in beautiful style.

We also added a notice board near the window corner and I have made some calendars for it. I always wanted to bring in some greenery to our living area, despite of staying in a concrete jungle. Growing some plants and herbs by the window corner to make it look like a little garden.

We installed a new set of curtains to hide the ugly power points (photo in the left is shelves with curtain closed and photo at the right is shelves with curtain open). All the food storage jars and containers were bought from IKEA which included both the glasses and plastic materials.

The other side facing the open shelves is the refrigerator and Zaanse helped us to decorate the refrigerator with some IKEA magnets and her baby photos.

Now these are the photos of baby Zaanse and I shall print more photos of baby Xavy as well!

Cinnamon and some spices inside the magnetic containers which is pretty accessible. Of course, we will reserve one for Zaanse to showcase her cars collection.
IMG_2973

How simple to get more space, just installed a spice jar rack inside our kitchen cabinet to put all the spices and salts etc. Daddy always got some crazy ideas, but this one is quite helpful.

Besides of the spice jar rack, we also mounted a rail onto the cabinet door under the sink. This is where we hang our kitchen towels.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the WHITE kitchen!! i’ll b doing up my new place at the end of the year and tis is great inspiration! by the way, is it hard to maintain since it’s white?

Thanks !! Initially we wanted a matte finishing white as it looked much nicer but we decided to change to glossy white finishing and it really easy to maintain. So far we didn’t have any issues to maintain the white …. Though I still think matte looked nicer!

Super Love your house design!! How’s your kompactop? Easy to maintain and still in good condition after your heavy cooking?
May I know what kind of tiles for your kitchen wall?

Thanks Candy ! Our kompactop is good, very easy to maintain and so far we have no issues on it though we cook almost everyday. The tiles for kitchen wall is just those normal rectangle ceramic tiles 🙂

I see… Even put hot stuff on it also no problem? I like kompactop but worry about the durability 🙁

One more question, for your master bedroom settee and cabinets, it is made by your carpenter? How much is it?

Hi Candy, I’d put hot stuff on it and no problem .. but I will place a Ikea coaster before place the hot stuff la.

Mater bedroom settee and cabinets are done by my carpenter .. I couldn’t remember the exact price, think around 300 to 600.

Hi. How do you make the IKEA knife holder stand on your counter top without toppling over?

    1. wongcee@hotmail.com

      January 5, 2016 at 6:26 am

The Ikea knife holder is built the way with magnet so it can hold the knife.

        Hi again… 🙂
I didn’t mean the knives toppling over. I was wondering about the bamboo holder itself toppling over as it is top heavy with the magnets. The actual design is meant for it to be hung on a metal bar. But like you, I prefer to put it on the kitchen counter. But because it’s top heavy, it can’t stand on its own. So how do you make it stay standing on the kitchen top?

          January 6, 2016 at 6:57 am

Hi Nuraini, understand your question now. But somehow the holder manage to stand by itself on the counter top, we didn’t do anything on it.
